We provide energy management solutions

that encompass the full range of the energy value chain,

resulting in the delivery of maximum value to our customers.

Blackstone provides a holistic approach to energy management. We provide this service throughout North America for Natural Gas, Electricity, Transportation Fuels, as well as many Renewable commodities. Our approach consists of the following:

1. Optimizing consumption

2. Benchmarking production

3. Refined procurement

4. Cost guarantees

It starts with analyzing how you consume your energy. From there it might lead to monitoring and targeting (M&T) programs or structuring financial derivatives to optimize your risk profile.

Natural Gas

Natural gas is a nonrenewable clean source of energy used primarily for heating and generating electricity. North America produces natural gas from wells within the continent but also imports natural gas from abroad. Importing natural gas can be done via pipeline or by ship. Imports that come in by ship contain natural gas that has been cooled to a liquid state ("Liquefied Natural Gas" or LNG) for transportation.

Many Provinces and States in North America have deregulated their respective Natural Gas market to allow end users to purchase and manage their own supply. Blackstone is in the business of assisting end users in deregulated markets to find supply and helping them manage their price risk to the spot market.

Electricity is a form of energy characterized by the presence and motion of elementary charged particles generated by friction, induction, or chemical change. Electricity is a secondary energy source which means that we get it from the conversion of other sources of energy, like coal, natural gas, oil, nuclear power and other natural sources, which are called primary sources. The energy sources we use to make electricity can be renewable or non-renewable, but electricity itself is neither renewable or non-renewable. (Source EIA)

Throughout North America, many Provinces and States have deregulated their respective Electricity market to allow end users to manage their own price exposure to the open market. Blackstone is in the business of assisting end users in these deregulated markets to manage their exposure and put in place best practices around consumption.

Transportation Fuels

Gasoline or petrol is a petroleum-derived liquid mixture, primarily used as fuel in internal combustion engines.

It consists mostly of aliphatic hydrocarbons, enhanced with iso-octane or the aromatic hydrocarbons toluene and benzene to increase its octane rating. Small quantities of various additives are common, for purposes such as tuning performance or reducing emissions. Some mixtures also contain significant quantities of ethanol as a partial alternative fuel.

In North America, there is over 500 billion litres of gasoline used each year. Blackstone helps large industrial customers and fleets manage their gasoline purchases and exposure to the open market.

Renewable Energy

Blackstone approaches renewable energy from two perspectives: sourcing and procurement of renewable commodities such as biodiesel or ethanol; secondly, a full range of services for renewable generation. Blackstone's Generation Services offer assistance in planning, finance, development and operation of renewable generation (biomass, geothermal, hydro, wind, and solar) and cogeneration projects.
